STRESSED out after struggling to find a parking space in Glasgow's city centre, I arrived harassed - and late - for my appointment at Colonnade and Hair Garden.
But, after entering the salon, I relaxed almost immediately, aided by the salon's calming hues and friendly staff.
But, having heard horror stories about Thai massages, I was a little apprehensive about the thought of having my limbs pulled in directions. I needn't have worried, as my beauty therapist Kasha was happy to discuss options with me and tailor the massage to suit my needs.
I was taken to one of the treatment rooms off the spacious reception. Each is individually-decorated with different moods in mind.
My treatment room was decorated in calming chocolate tones and as I lay on the massage bench, Kasha began by giving me a smoke ceremony.
She allowed me to choose what exotic oils she would use. I opted for a de-toxing and purifying citrus oil. Legs, feet, arms, hands, back and front - hardly an area of my body was left untreated.
At some points, I have to admit there was a little pain as Kasha tried to rid my muscles of knots and tension using quite a vigorous massaging technique. But the power of each massage can be altered depending on the client's preference.
The highlight had to be when Kasha concentrated on my feet and hands, and the application of the herb stamp. Like a little pomander, the stamp is a warm compress packed with 14 Thai herbs and heated in a steam generator. The compress is then applied to the skin using Eastern massage techniques to iron out the tension in my muscles. It is also good for banishing cellulite.
Walking out, I felt revitalised. Before my Thai-style treatment at Colonnade, I was in two minds about it. But now I am a convert and planning my return visit.

THEY call it the "buwarri" treatment, which is an Aboriginal word for dream time.
And that's exactly what a few blissful hours at the newly opened Colonnade spa and hair garden feels like. In fact, your shoulders instantly relax just by stepping out of the non-stop buzz of Glasgow city centre into the spa's plush surroundings.
"It's all about giving you back some precious me time," explained managing director Lorna Leavitt. "We're here to help you reconnect body, mind and soul."
The spa, in Oswald Street, offers a one-stop solution to looking good as you can get all hair and beauty needs sorted.
Each of the six treatment rooms have a different theme and they're at least double the average size, so there's plenty of space to escape worries. Calming music played as I stripped off in a candle-lit room, then sunk in to the fluffy towels so senior therapist Katarzyna Yagiela could work her magic.
From a choice of three, I went for lavender-enhanced oil to help revitalise.
The treatment started with a body exfoliation using a lemon wattleseed polish and a refreshing toning spritz. Then there was a chance to switch off completely with a full body massage. Hot stones placed on key energy points slowly melted away lingering tension.
Then, just as I was so relaxed I was on the verge of sleep, the treatment finished with a scalp massage. Feeling like a new woman, I drifted through to the hair garden for a reviving cup of coffee, plus a wash and blow dry with salon manager Scott Pavey. A complimentary manicure completed the transformation.
The spa also offers everything from facials to waxing, spray tanning to reflexology and holistic therapies such as reiki, chakra balancing and crystal healing.
They'll design tailor-made packages and are the first Scots spa to use Australian products Li'tya.
"They definitely worked on me so I'll be back."
